1898
The first president (Umejiro Kawai) enters business with Hachiya Kawai Shoten in Tenmonkan (currently the Maruya Gardens area) in downtown Kagoshima. Hachiya begins selling Asahi-tabi, Fukusuke-tabi, and other Japanese-style kimono socks, expanding its sales network as a Kyushu-area distributor.
1950
The second president (Shoji Kawai) expands into modern-day Osaka, shifting focus to high-end kimono accessories.
1963
Hachiya Corporation forms and begins to manufacture kimono handbags.
1975
The third president, Shiro Kawai (current chairman) begins to create handbags with techniques normally used for Japanese accessories, and develops original products made from Italian and French materials.
1977
The Think Bee! brand is established.
1998
Hachiya celebrates its centennial.
2006
The flagship store opens in Abeno, Osaka.
2007
Sales expand to China, Taiwan, and other East Asian markets.
2008
Hachiya celebrates 110th anniversary, and the current president (Shinnosuke Kawai) takes over.
2009
The second Think Bee! store opens in Azabujuban, Minato-ku, Tokyo.
2010
The third Think Bee! store re-opens in Yamakataya department store in Kagoshima.
The fourth Think Bee! store opens in Keio department store in Shinjuku, Tokyo.
2011
The fifth Think Bee! store opens in Tsuruya department store in Kumamoto.The sixth Think Bee! store opens in Ginza, Tokyo.
2012
The seventh Think Bee! store opens in Daimaru department store in Sapporo, Hokkaido.
2013
The eighth Think Bee! store opens in Matsuzakaya department store in Shizuoka.The ninth Think Bee! store opens in Sakurano department store in Sendai, Miyagi.
2014
The tenth Think Bee! store opens in Daimaru department store in Fukuoka-Tenshin, Fukuoka.
2015
The third Think Bee! store re-opens in Yamakataya department store in Kagoshima.
